Vacation Day 4- Coming Home

On Sunday, we had to come home from Savannah.  Boo.  Kate was not too excited about it either...

We ate a big breakfast and then packed everything up to leave.  We hit the road about 10:45, which would put us home around 2:45 if we didn't make any stops.  That didn't happen.

Kate did great at first.  She slept for a good hour or more, but then she woke up and wanted out.  She really wasn't that bad, but we finally decided we needed to make a stop and since we were only 30 minute away from my parent's house we decided to go there.   It was a little out of our way but we had to stop anyway and hadn't seen them in a while, so it was worth it.  We stayed for a little over an hour, ate a very late lunch and Kate got to crawl around and visit with her Gigi and Papa Rick.  Lots of fun.

We finally got home around 5:30 and were exhausted.  I knew Kate was going to go to bed early, but first she need a bath.  And she needed one badly.

One thing that we never even considered when booking a hotel was how the bathroom was set up.  I mean, all hotels give you the necessities, right?  Wrong!  After we took Kate swimming on our first day, we came back to the room to get ready for dinner.  I went to give Kate a bath when I realized that there was no bath tub.  All we had was a shower.  Kate is WAY too slippery when she's wet to even attempt putting her in the shower so the sink was our only option. Of course it was a tiny sink and Kate is not a tiny girl but we made do.  The next night, Kate was already asleep when we got back to the hotel room and I didn't want to attempt the sink again (I made a big wet mess) so we skipped the bath.  When we got home on Sunday night, she was getting a bath!  I think she was pretty excited about it too.

And then it was pajama and bed time, but not before playing with one of Daddy's toys... and a few of her own.

And so ended our vacation.  I would say that we're back to our normal schedule, but we're not.  Kate's still adjusting her sleep and catching up from her wacky vacation sleep schedule.  Also, I'm off of work this Friday because we'll be meeting up with Kate's birth parents for a visit.  The last time we saw them was right before Christmas, so we're excited to see them again and although they get to see lots of pictures, I KNOW they're excited to see how much Kate has grown.

We have LOTS to be thankful for and I hope we never take any of God's blessings for granted.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

  3. omg where did you find her bath tub? I looked forever for Karson one but obviously not in the right spot. Now he is fine sitting by himself but oh how I would have loved this!

    1. The bath ring was a gift, but it's great! Makes bath time MUCH easier! Kate can sit up by herself in our tub, but it's an older bath tub and SUPER slick. IDK if it's a metal tub or what, but she slides all over. I guess I could get those sticky things or a mat that goes on the bottom of the tub eventually.
